Meet Dr. Alicia Michele Telfaire
AKA: "Dr. Cheley"
Dr. Alicia Michele Telfaire, affectionately known as Dr. Cheley, is a proud North Carolina Central University alumna, community leader, consultant, and founder of Opportunities Make Destinies, Inc. (OMD), a nonprofit organization focused on creating pathways to housing, stability, and opportunity.
Originally from Simpson, North Carolina and now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Cheley is passionate about leadership, service, and empowering others through community impact initiatives. Many also recognize her through #KickballBAE, a platform that grew from her love of competitive kickball into a space that brings people together through culture, connection, and purpose.
As a candidate for Ms. NCCU Alumni, Dr. Cheley is committed to honoring NCCU’s legacy while inspiring and uplifting future generations of Eagles.

North Carolina Central University helped shape the woman I am today. NCCU gave me more than a degree. It gave me confidence, lifelong relationships, leadership, unforgettable memories, and a foundation rooted in excellence and purpose.
Running for Ms. NCCU Alumni is deeply personal to me because this campaign is about more than a title. It’s about legacy, service, community, and creating opportunities for future Eagles.
The Mr. & Ms. Alumni Scholarship Contest is one of the NCCU Alumni Association’s largest fundraising efforts, helping provide scholarship support to deserving NCCU students each year. Knowing that this campaign directly impacts students and helps create opportunities for others makes this journey even more meaningful to me.
Whether through my nonprofit work, community involvement, or the relationships I’ve built through #KickballBAE, I’ve always believed in bringing people together, uplifting others, and leading with heart. I want to use this platform to continue representing NCCU with authenticity, passion, and purpose while helping support the next generation of Eagles.
